CHO’S DEATH CHART
POSTED BY BEVERLEE Tuesday, May 22, 2007
Guess what? A picture, as it turns out, really is worth a thousand words. While reading this article about Seung-Hui Cho—the deranged killer who took 32 lives at Virginia Tech before putting the gun to his own head, I learned the time of his death. The chart that I quickly erected for this time is cataclysmic, telling the whole gruesome story with chilling accuracy.
Let’s begin with the astonishing reality that four of the planets in the chart are in critical degrees: The Sun, at 26 Aries, the Moon at 13 Aries, Interestingly, according to Myrna Lofthus in her book “A Spiritual Approach to Astrology” calls the critical 13th degree of Cardinal signs: “frustration due to maladjustment”.
To continue, Uranus within three seconds of 17 Pisces, which is also in mutual reception with Neptune is at 21 degrees of Aquarius. Critical degrees add extra emphasis to the nature and importance of planets or points in a chart, as does a mutual reception.
Adding further emphasis to the precision of this chart, the Midheaven is at the notorious 29th degree—another potent degree depicting great importance; in this case, finding the 29th degree on the Midheaven—the part of the chart describing one’s public image—is an eerily precise description of Cho’s own death.
Moreover, to affix further weight to the validity of this chart, we find the Moon/Uranus (explosive emotions) midpoint is at 00 Aries—the point said to denote fame—or in this case, infamy.
Next, we note that there is a fire grand trine in the chart—representing great enthusiasm on the part of Cho, which we certainly have all been made frighteningly aware of with regard to his grisly and well-planned act of horror. He gunned down as many of his fellow students and professors in cold blood as he possibly could. In fact, he had brought enough ammunition with him to slaughter many more and was only prevented from doing so when he heard the police approaching, and took his own life, ending the nightmarish massacre. The grand trine begins with the Moon (emotions) in the 11th house of groups and goals, trining Saturn (negative thinking) in the third house of one’s thinking processes, also trining Jupiter (excess) conjunct the cusp of the 7th house of others, most particularly in this instance of “open enemies”. Yes, we can see that Cho had great enthusiasm for his horrifying mission.
But as it happens, this particular grand trine has another element; because Neptune opposes Saturn, it forms what is called a “kite” pattern. Nebulous Neptune—the focal planet in the kite pattern—representing self-sacrifice!
The chart ruler, Mercury (due to Gemini rising in the chart) is in the sign of Aries, along with the Sun and Moon, all of them disposited by Mars—the planet representing anger and will, and Mars is the closest planet to the top of the chart—the Midheaven—rendering it, along with Mercury and Uranus, also posited in the 10th house of destiny, the most public and potentious of the planets.
Now let’s turn to the decans—the area of the sign where each pivotal planet falls—for even more intriguing evidence of the moment in question. We find the Ascendant at 21 Gemini in the decan of Uranus (violence, disruption, rebellion). The Sun at 26 Aries is in the Jupiter decan (excess). The Moon at 12 Aries is in the Sun’s decan (one’s mission). Mercury (thinking processes) at 9 Aries is in the Mars decan (Anger, violence), Venus (love), at 5 Gemini is in Mercury’s decan. (Communication and thinking processes)l Mars at 7 Pisces is in Neptune’s decan (sacrifice). Uranus (rebellion, the unexpected, disruption) at 15 Pisces is in the Moon’s decan (emotion). Pluto (obsession, power, death) is in the decan of the Sun (mission). And the Midheaven at 29 Aquarius is in the Venus decan. (What one loves or values).
So let’s further examine that curious Venus in Gemini, a sign where Venus is notoriously mercurial. Do you remember in my previous blog I said that I thought Cho was secretly frustrated about a love interest? Well, what do you know? Here we find Venus in the 12th house of secrets and self-undoing!
To paraphrase the famous quotation attributed to Abraham Lincoln: “You can fool some of the people all of the time, and all of the people some of the time, but you can not fool your astrologer any of the time.” Not when the chart spells out the truth in such graphic detail as this one depicting Cho’s death does.
HARRY POTTER SPOILERS
POSTED BY BEVERLEE Monday, May 14, 2007
Oh, dear! I’m worried about Harry Potter again. After reading this plea from J.K.Rowling for those who know not to reveal the plot and spoil “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows”—the final book in the Harry Potter series—I remembered thinking that when the book comes out I hope no one reveals the ending. I want to walk every step of the way through the book with Harry.
Remembering too, that Rowling has revealed that two main characters will die in this book, I thought I’d better have another look at Harry’s chart! What I discovered from viewing the transits to his chart today are not encouraging. Today Saturn is sitting right on his natal Jupiter which is simultaneously opposed by Neptune. Saturn also squares (challenges) his natal Uranus in the 2nd house, which is actually the house of death, although most wrongly assign the 8th house to death (including yours truly as the occasion warrants!).
In addition, the upcoming September 11th Solar Eclipse falls exactly on his Solar 12th house cusp, the house of self-undoing…again, not an encouraging picture, which is worsened by transiting Jupiter at the same time squaring his Saturn, Neptune opposing his Jupiter and Mars conjoining his natal Mars..
Harry, as we know, has repeatedly been in difficult circumstances before and managed to survive. We can only hope that he pulls through this time. But whether he does or not, I don’t want to know before I read about it on the last page of "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows". So if you know, please don’t tell me!
MORE REFLECTIONS ON SEUNG-HUI CHO’S CHART
POSTED BY BEVERLEE Monday, May 07, 2007
In reviewing my analysis of Cho’s chart in my previous blog, I note that I did not mention that the Midheaven of the chart at the time his appalling shooting spree on the campus of Virginia Tech began was at 20 degrees of Capricorn, conjoining within a degree his progressed Venus at 19 degrees of Capricorn and exactly opposing his natal Moon at 20 degrees of Cancer. The Moon/Venus opposition, IMO, shows a deeply embedded obstacle with regard to relationships. We do know that Cho was accused off stalking two different women on campus, so this conjecture is not as far out as it may seem.
While the local police and school authorities at Virginia Tech continue to pore over the information they have on Cho, attempting to understand his motivation for the murders he has committed, and coming up with no explanation for what triggered the bloodbath, I feel that astrological principles can shed some light on his actions.
I believe Cho’s natal chart displays a propensity for feeling inadequate in the ability to have a successful relationship with women. For one thing his natal Moon in Cancer is exactly inconjunct (separated by 150 degrees from) Venus. The Moon and Venus are the two female principles of any chart. Inconjunctions—any inconjunction—in a chart renders a portrait of guilt feelings. I believe Cho was never able to successfully relate to the female sex, and held deep-seated feelings of resentment—even rage—because of this perceived inadequacy.
Beyond that, I have employed an unorthodox technique to further explore my theory. As Astrologers, we are told that we cannot successfully construct a Solar Return chart without knowing the exact time of birth. Technically, this may be true; I haven’t attempted it before, so I can’t be sure. But in this instance, an overriding desire to discover the motive behind Cho’s otherwise inconceivable acts of atrocity, I’ve decided to let the rules go by the board and construct a Solar Return chart for his final year of life.
Not surprisingly, in his Solar Return chart we find a stellium in the 10th house of public image and destiny. Cho’s Capricorn Sun is joined there by Mercury, Chiron and Venus, closely followed by Neptune exactly conjunct the 11th house cusp—all in the rebellious sign of Aquarius. Moreover, these four Aquarian points in the chart are all ruled by Uranus, the disrupter of the status quo. And Uranus in the 11th house of goals and the unexpected squares Jupiter in the 8th house of death, where Pluto, the planet ruling death, is also posited. Jupiter, remember, is about expanding one’s limits. Badly used, Jupiter characterizes self-indulgence—over-doing it.
Mars—the planet which co-rules Scorpio and symbolizes either ambition or hostility, conjoins the Moon in the 9th house. Moon conjunct Mars clearly defines anger toward women, since the Moon symbolizes women. I’ve found over the years of my astrological exploration, that the 9th house often is activated at the time of death….it’s about long trips…and what trip is longer than that to the next world?
The bucket pattern of the chart has as its handle Saturn, the ruler of Cho’s Capricorn Sun, in the sign of Leo, which means it’s in mutual reception with the Sun, doubling its significance in this Solar Return chart. Saturn, not insignificantly, is posited in the 5th house of romance.
From all of this, and particularly because of that Saturn in the 5th house of romance opposing disappointed Neptune on the 11th house cusp of the unexpected in the Solar Return chart, unorthodox as its construction may be construed, I am willing to hypothesize that what triggered Cho’s rage was a failed relationship. I think he either felt hopelessly inadequate to pursue a fantasized relationship or was insanely jealous of someone who was in relationship with the person he secretly wished to be involved with himself, but was pathetically incapable of pursuing openly.
Whether my hypothesis will ever be borne out by other means, I have no way of knowing. I merely present it here for consideration in the face of so many unanswered questions.
