It’s déjà vu all over again, as I seem to remember Yogi Berra once commenting. I had sincerely hoped that I was finished studying O.J. Simpson’s stars in order to try and determine his fate, because frankly, the man’s posturing is repellent to me.
During his trial for the murder of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman, I examined his chart along with the current aspects to it and announced that he did the crime but that he would not do the time. A moment after the verdict was announced my telephone rang. It was a friend calling, “You were right!” she moaned. I had to call her back because I was too choked up to speak at that dreadful moment. Sometimes I would rather my predictions be wrong; that was such a time.
Simpson has a grand trine in his natal chart which has served as a bulwark against his troubles: Sun trine Moon both trine Jupiter. Moreover, the Moon is posited in the 8th house of his chart, which gives him enormous charisma. I do not happen to feel that charisma should absolve one of paying for one’s crimes.
As many of you know, recently I have been offering personalized Solar Eclipse Readings for the recent Eclipse, which took place on September 11th. I have received overwhelmingly gratifying comments on the validity of these mini-readings from those who ordered them. Therefore, I thought it would be enlightening to look at how the Eclipse personally affected Simpson’s chart, and, based on my analysis, whether I might have predicted, from its effects alone, the ominous situation in which he now finds himself.
The Solar Eclipse fell in Simpson’s first house—the house of one’s personality, how others see us, and our immediate surroundings. At 18 degrees of Virgo, the Eclipse exactly conjoined the midpoint of his Solar Arc Directed Sun/Mercury, (Ego/thinking processes) which is simultaneously opposed by transiting Uranus (the great Awakener!) in the house of others, and somewhat more widely conjuncting his charismatic Pisces Moon.
Saturn happens to be the ruling planet of this Solar Eclipse by virtue of its being in the same sign and closest to the Sun/Moon conjunction. At age 60, Simpson, especially in the way he presents himself to others, is in a severe testing phase, because since October 2005, he has experienced, not once, but three times, the return of Saturn to his natal Saturn/Pluto conjunction in the 12th house of what’s hidden, institutions and self-undoing. This has been a huge test for him—our Saturn Return always tests us rigorously to see whether we are in tune with reality. If not, it punishes us severely.
Saturn is now moving through Simpson’s 1st house by transit, and has just crossed over his Solar Arc Directed Venus (what one values) at 29 degrees of Leo—a final degree, remember, and thus, strongly needing to be expressed, especially inasmuch as it is in the fixed sign of Leo. Saturn conjoining one’s Venus, whether natal, progressed or Directed, without fail, feels very repressive.
As I point out in my Eclipse Readings—(which also include analysis of the progressions, directions and transits)—the progressions and Solar Arc Directions to points in your natal chart, show where you have arrived at this stage of your evolvement. Finding the Eclipse on that pivotal midpoint of his Directed Sun and Mercury called upon Simpson to step up and tell the truth—a thing that is totally alien to his nature.
If Simpson had been among the many who ordered their Solar Eclipse Reading from me, based on these portentous signs, I undoubtedly would have warned him to exercise caution in his communications for the next six months. Without soliciting my advice, however, it now appears that Simpson has been caught on audiotape during the fiasco of retrieving his sports memorabilia in Las Vegas.
However, let us probe Simpson’s chart more deeply. At the time of the Eclipse on 9/11, Simpson’s Solar Arc Directed Midheaven had conjoined his natal Sun—putting him directly in the spotlight. Transiting Mars was within two degrees of conjuncting his natal Uranus (surprises!) in the 10th house of reputation, public image and destiny, and it was squaring his Solar Arc Directed Mercury, the ruler of his thinking processes. He was in a very challenging position, further reinforced by the Solar Arc Directed Moon having entered the 10th house of his public image within one degree of squaring (challenging) his natal Ascendant of personality.
Transiting Mercury on the day of the Eclipse was passing through Simpson’s 2nd house of personal resources, possessions and feelings of self-worth, exactly conjuncting his Solar Arc Pluto (transformation!) and also his natal Neptune (illusion!). Meanwhile Jupiter, the planet that urges us to reach out for more, was squaring his Solar Arc Sun(ego) and transiting Pluto is poised on the cusp of his 5th house of risk-taking. It’s interesting that these aspects should ultimately have their effect in Las Vegas—the country’s gambling capital!
Although I do not include the following information in my mini-Eclipse Readings, I noted with interest while looking at Simpson's latest Solar Return chart, that the Mars/Neptune (Ambition/Illusion) midpoint is at the 00 Aries point—reputedly denoting fame—or in this instance, notoriety. How prophetic!
Finally, it’s worth noting that Simpson’s charismatic Moon posited in the 8th house, happens to rule his 12th house of self-undoing. Has it finally led him to his unconsciously desired destiny?
Time will tell.

The upcoming Solar Eclipse of September 11th, as astrologer and author Michele Adler points out in her remarkable article about the 18/19 degree of Virgo/Pisces, triggered by this Eclipse, is an especially potent one which affects all of us in some part of our natal chart. Each of the houses in our chart represents a compartment of our life, and in the house the Eclipse occupies, we experience a turning point, which engages our time and attention for the ensuing six months until the next Solar Eclipse.
In fact, the late Robert Carl Jansky, in his book “Interpreting the Eclipses”, says that he was able to find the core issue in a client’s life merely by knowing in which part of his or her chart the latest Eclipse fell.
